There are two bands from NYC that I’m hoping to bring to Binghamton in the fall of ‘12. You guys should check them out. If they don’t play at Binghamton University, then we shall try a venue or gallery off campus. Either way, the show is opened for EVERYONE: students and non-students.

If possible, I really really want to work out a show for THE YOUNG THINGS
http://theyoungthings.net/
I saw both The Color Bars and The Young Things at the Pianos in NYC back in April. I initially went for The Danvilles (feat. Mike Hindert of The Bravery / owner of Merrifield Records) and didn’t know much about the other bands. After seeing part of the other sets, I was really impressed by their sound. Over a few drinks, I spoke to the sister of The Color Bars singer, who occasionally does some managerial stuff. Or she spoke to me first because I was really swaying my body to her brother’s music. I don’t know, but either way, she was cool and so was the band. We talked about bringing them to Binghamton. I also would like to speak to THE YOUNG THINGSSSSSSS, okay, I’ll till close to August for them.
Not Blood Paint, I have never seen before live, but I know they are capable of putting on a killer show. If you’re in Binghamton and an artist, work at a gallery, or like to plan events…we should collaborate. I know you creative, art connoisseurs are all over on Tumblr. Hope you come across this post.
We should do this just for First Friday or something if we decide to bring the music off campus. That way, we wouldn’t run into a lot of conflicts with the Binghamton bands.
There’s a music video I really want to make in August. It’ll be super awesome if you can help me make this happen! Especially, YOU, band peeps.
If you’re in a indie rock, alternative rock, electro-pop band, then let’s dooo this! Although I already have an idea in mind, we’ll work something out to make the song fit for the video….or rather the video to become fit for the song…
I cannot let a day go by without listening to Not Blood, Paint (comes right after Alt-J on my playlist). This quartet comes with an unconventional theatrical flair, bodies that come out of a Dada piece, and the nuance of a playful modulation wrapped in celestial synthetic, keeping the audience intrigued from the first note to the very last. I tell ya, it’s a sweet package tied up with glinting ribbons delivered right to your worn-out eardrums. The band generates the kind of brisance that tingles your spine once you let the ribbons loose. Any starting artist would want to bathe in their shimmering paint chips and move their body to the awesome music. What meets what in this band? Soiree au cabaret sauvage meets circus sideshow meets Queen’s Jazz meets Pierrot turned upside down meets vodka soaked gummy worms meets Blackbird Raum meets Muse’s sexiness. Whew, I tried.
SAPB should really book these guys and invest in several buckets of paint, few of them being high in phosphorescence pigments for the luminous spectacle coming from the crowd. The BU Fine Art Society can set up their table at the Undergrounds and help facepaint the attendees. Oh my goodness! Seriously, let’s do this! I’m getting way too excited just thinking about it! Meanwhile, late nite can host a mask deco project upstairs in the Tillman lobby and students can wear them to the show. Holy bloody sheep, I like this.
Last minute doodles. I’m thinking about redoing the snake and the riverwoman and put more time into the newer version. Not sure why I chose to treat the woman as a water creature…oh wait, I had some really bad tilapia that day, so maybe that’s why.

MERRIFIELD RECORDS show at Binghamton University!
Wyldlife: Wild and crazzzzzzy!
The Photo Atlas: I probably squeezed out 5 million gallons of sweat from dancing. Also, congrats on getting the new video featured on Spinner and Alternative Press! Kudos to Alan especially for kickin’ it on stage despite his ailment.
The Danvilles: Wonderful, calming dessert to end the night!
I know this isn’t a legitimate review, hah.

Merrifield Records goodies from the show! They were free and I was like “no way jose!” in my head! Unfortunately, someone stole my Wyldlife buttons…it’s cool though. Good to know that someone else on campus is rockin’ those buttons…I’ll just buy new ones from the guys or trade em with some fancy bottle caps or somethin. Or somethin or somethin! Bradford Cox during sound check. This is kind of old.
I recently dreamt about him as a comical philosophy professor in lecture hall 20 (nonexistent) giving a small talk on the topic of nihilism. Not sure how one can conjure up humor on such topic.
Dr. Cox eventually became the boon on campus. Unfortunately, this piece of information was only a collective mist in my sleep.

I started listening to RATATAT last semester after discovering them through the 2Cellos “Smooth Criminal” tribute video. You should recommend Ratatat to your school (especially my school).
Well, I’ve gotta work on a few applications and start refining my paper mache model mask for the shadow monkey characters. I need to decide how I’m going to attach the gazelle horns, but before that…I need to go out and steal telephone books from the neighborhood to make more masks.
I’ve “stolen” many telephone books and one would think that a bundle of 10 would be enough. Ha, certainly not the case here.
Ciao for now.

THE MARS VOLTA, baby!!! The Malkin Jewel is the first single from Noctourniquet - coming March 27th.
Actually got two free downloadable tracks off the new album: “The Malkin Jewel” and “Zed and Two Naughts”
My CD and shirt will be arriving in about two weeks! Can’t wait!
After sampling the two tracks, I know for sure that I’ll dig the other tracks. Sure, they’ve mellowed down a bit, but the quality is still great. People need to suck it up and open their minds to the new sound that bands create every year. It’s not like they’re gonna go back to the studio and rewrite the songs to gratify your foolish needs. Although they might just chuck their old albums at your face. Now that would hurt…kinda.
SEED - Ben Richardson & Daniel Bird
**Best Animated Short Slamdance 2010**
I haven’t done a video feature on my blog for a while. Er, at least I think I said I’d pick my favorite short film or video from Vimeo for the week and encourage you to watch it. Check out “Seed” for sure. I’ve been obsessing over this video since the beginning of the year, so it’s been roughly a month. Surprisingly, my attention on this video hasn’t worn off a bit. Greatly impressed by their craftwork even though the visuals sort of tip over on a more grotesque side of the scale, but makes you appreciate the concept nonetheless. Raven head, the Raven talon, and a Worm body? I feel like the director is making a statement about the vast incohesive growth of the society that reek of ugly rivalries all triggered by monetary greed and consumer-goods. We’re all from the same origin, but I suppose we break apart at some point and create enemies with ourselves which consequently hurts all of us in the end. Just pointing out the obvious…or maybe this was put together sporadically w/o much thought and it just happens to look cool. Who knows.
